Shoes make the outfit!

It's best to leave those heels at home this Halloween.
Still finalizing Halloween costumes for this weekend?

Picking out the perfect costume for Halloween should include the right footwear, according to Dr. Russell Pendleton, podiatrist on the medical staff of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle.

FamilyEducation.com reminds parents that adult shoes may look cute with a kids' costume, but they also can cause a tumble. Stick to shoes that fit, preferably with non-skid soles.

“Oversized shoes can cause children and adults alike to trip,” said Pendleton. “Shoes with higher than normal heels can be precarious and cause falls too.”

Pendleton also reminds parents that children who are unaccustomed to wearing heels will probably need extra help to navigate trick-or-treating.

“One night of fun is not worth a lifetime of pain,” Pendleton added.
